eToro, the social trading network, has signed French professional tennis player Gael Monfils on as its global ambassador.
Monfils is no stranger to success. At the age of 31, he has already won seven Associated of Tennis Professionals (ATP) singles titles, competed in several Grand Slam tournaments, and is due to play two more later this year.
In a 42-second video titled ‘Get Serious About Investing,’ a ‘professional narrator’ uses the words ‘dedication’ and ‘success’ to make a connection between playing tennis and investing in the financial markets. The aim of the video is to grab the viewer’s attention before telling them to get serious about investing on eToro.
But what do tennis and trading have in common that makes this pairing work?
eToro offers a multi-asset, web-based investment platform that allows users to easily buy, hold, and sell assets, including ETFs, stocks, and cryptocurrencies. It currently provides trading on 10 digital currencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, BCH, XRP, Litecoin, Ethereum Classic, Dash, Stellar, NEO, and EOS. With over nine million registered users in 140 countries, eToro has managed to make trading approachable to a range of clients.
One of which is Monfils. Known for his colourful personality, and despite his hectic training schedule, the tennis professional still manages to trade online and does so via eToro.
Trading on the platform since October 2017, Monfils first heard about the trading network from his brother-in-law. When he joined he was drawn to eToro’s wide selection of digital currencies and its innovative CopyFund investment strategies, which are ready-made, fully allocated, managed investment portfolios. Another feature that Monfils enjoys is the CopyTrader, which enables traders to allocate funds to copy other traders’ portfolios in real time.
Yet, just as tennis takes dedication, hard work, raw talent, and the ability to handle adverse circumstances, so too does being an online trader. For eToro taking on Monfils as its global ambassador seemed to go hand-in-hand. Some of eToro’s main values include leadership, innovation, and fun. Monfils embodies many of these values, which is why the collaboration between the two is quite natural – just like an ace served up in tennis to win the game.
